Starting a business is scary for many people but you finally decided to do it anyway. You now fired yourself (or planning to fire yourself) from your day job. Your mind has been opened to the many possibilities and opportunities having your own business can give you. Probably because you have seen a friend made it or a colleague that is just too positive in life that his optimism influenced you. You now accept the fact that taking risks and challenges are prerequisite to achieving success. You already have some saved money and are emotionally ready to jump on the wagon of entrepreneurship. Finally, finally!
I personally want to congratulate you for deciding to better your life and your future. I commend you for choosing to rise above your current self. I also want to thank you for joining the very few force of people who have the vision and mission to make this world a better place.
Entrepreneurs are more than just business people, they are visionaries, innovators, inventors, opportunity makers and changers, to name a few of their characteristics. They create something most of the time out of nothing. Because of the businesses they established, employments are made.
You probably already know some of the great entrepreneurs that somehow has influenced the way we do things. You may have heard the names; Henry Ford, Thomas Alba Edison, Henry Sy, Ray Crocs, and Bill Gates. Apple Inc.’s Steve Jobs is one among them that has drastically made a change on how we live.
In the late 1970′s Steve Jobs, together with a friend Steve Wozniak, had the vision of personal computer. We now enjoy the many help computers and other electronic devices are giving us but all these started in a small garage where the two Steves meet and almost not going out to develop and make their vision a reality.
For many Filipinos the name Henry Sy has been a household name. He has been known for being the owner and founder of SM malls around the Philippines, The Mall of Asia being the biggest mall in the country has been his latest achievement. (Here is a video of my visit to MOA and some thoughts on how much the MOA Eye is making.) Known to few, this Filipino-Chinese man, was born poor and started small by selling rejected and over-run shoes from Marikina, the shoes capital of the Philippines.
What do these two people have in common is they have ideas that then turn into a vision. Now with passion and commitment, they took actions in turning their visions into reality. You and I are not too different or less talented than them. So kudos to you for taking a huge life-changing leap!
