Typhoon Haiyan Brought People Together

Last week has been sad not just for the Filipino people but for other nationalities as well. Typhoon Haiyan (known as Yolanda in the Philippines) is now known as the most powerful typhoon that touched land with estimated strength of 195mph (~315 kph). The said typhoon has left the Visayan region of the Philippines devastated, houses washed away, electricity down, roads blocked and as of today with over 2,300 dead.

The filipino people from all over the country; charity foundations, companies and religious groups has gathered all their forces and resources to pack relief supplies with food and hygiene kits. Working closely with the government agencies, military and the media, supplies are flown to affected areas. Those in the social media has also been helpful by sharing information. Using hashtags #yolandaPH, #reliefPH and #movePH in Twitter and Instagram has made passing the information around easier.

Amidst this sad tragedy the news of other countries sending help and workforce has brought hope and gave strength to the Filipino people. Foreign Military, Air force, Doctors and Nurses has made the outreach effort faster.
