Social media sites, it is where people “socialize” online. They connect us, we exchanged ideas and made friends over the years. Sadly, as time passed by, the way we interact towards one another has changed, we all just want to talk and talk, we carelessly spit out words without any intention of listening to what others have to say. We gradually forgot what it’s like to socialize, an important aspect of our lives as human beings.
On Facebook we all want to give a shout out on almost anything that’s happening in our daily lives. Our behavior is the same on Twitter, because of its limited space for characters we tend to just throw links after links of twits right in-front our followers feed. These practices has gone too far that made the people want to leave Facebook and Twitter. And where do these people go? To Google Plus.
If you are new to Google plus (or G+) allow me to help you fit into this new way of socialization. On your first few days of using G+ you may have the impression, like how newbies felt, that this social media platform is a “ghost town” because you’re not getting the same amount of attention like on Facebook. Here are important points to consider so you can enjoy your G+ experience.
SOCIALIZE
As mentioned in the introduction of this post, people leave their favorite social media platforms because nobody cares about what they and others has to say. On the other hand, G+ users comment and respond to posts. One reason is because they don’t only see their connections’ activities alone but what the world is up to as well on their feed.
To socialize look for topics that are of your interests, join communities and engage in conversations. You can use Hashtags plus your interest (#Mandela) on the search box. You are free to choose which results you want to see, either from Communities, People and Pages, G+ Posts, Photos and more.
USE +Mention
Make a personal connection with anyone on Google+ by adding a plus sign and their name (+RamboRuiz) on your comments and on what’s new - your status.
DON’T DUMP LINKS
Who wants spam but you alone so stop spamming around Google+ by dumping website links on your every posts. If you are on Google+ with SEO in mind then the old link dumping strategy you practiced on Facebook and Twitter will simply not work. To drive traffic to your website using this platform then build authority. You can do it by sharing information that are relevant and engaging.
Bonus Tip: Use BOLD and ITALICIZED texts
Unlike Facebook and Twitter you can make texts bold and italicized in Google+. Using this feature allows you to express your thoughts more freely, emphasize important words or phrases. To use this simple yet amazing feature follow the steps below:
To make a word or phrases bold simply put asterisks before and after the word (*This phrase will be bold*)
To make an italicized word simply enclose the word between two underscores (_This phrase will be italicize_)
Start enjoying G+, flush your Facebook and Twitter ethics off your system so you can start enjoying this new social media platform own by Google. Meet new smart people by engaging to conversation and answering questions from other users. Remember to use +mention to connect personally with other users. In sharing your thoughts take advantage of its text formatting feature. And finally to make your Google+ experience enjoyable don’t dump links the way you dump them on your ol’ Facebook wall and twits.

G+ is a bit tricky but it’s worth spending time in there. I must say, G+ users are more mature than many of those from Facebook
