Getting Traffic to your Website

Hi there how much money have you been making now online? I hope that you have been reading all the previous tutorials available in this blog and are carefully applying what you learned.

On our latest post, we discussed how you can make money with a website, if you missed it click here. After having your website ready your next focus must be on how you can drive traffic or visitors to your website and start making money through it.

Have Google Index your Website

The good news is, you can get highly targeted traffic to your website completely free through Google and other SEs. In fact, by now your website should already be inside Google’s index.

To check if your website is indexed, simply copy your domain URL (website address), paste it in Google embedded with double quotes, and hit search.

If the search yields results, and the results are your website’s pages, then you’re already indexed and people can find you via Google. If not, we’re going to have to get it indexed.

The quickest way to get inside Google’s index is to »ping« your newly created website. This is best done by using a free pinging web service, such as www.pingomatic.com

When you open the site, just paste in your website’s URL, check all the boxes below and click submit. This will notify a whole bunch of web properties about the existance of your website, and once that happens, it’s just a matter of time before Google finds you…

Note that it may take a couple of days before Google indexes your site, so try to be patient.

Post on Social Media sites

Also, if you have a Facebook or a Twitter account (or any other social media service), you can post a link to your website there as well, as Google visits these type of sites frequently.

Creating Backlinks

Backlinks are links which we’ll be creating on various web properties and pointing them back to our website.

This is best understood if you imagine the entire internet as a giant voting election. The more votes (backlinks) a website has, the more popular it is and thus Google will rank it better.

However, understand that not all backlinks are created equal!

For example, if you get a backlink from a website that is not so popular and isn’t even related to your niche, it’s not going to count as much as a backlink from an authority website which is related to your niche. In fact, one high quality link could be worth 1000s of poor quality links.

A factor that determines the backlink value of a page is called Page Rank. Page rank is a number between 0 and 10 and it simbolizes the number and quality of backlinks pointing to that page. Obviously, the higher the page rank, the better it is to get a backlink from that page.

There are several methods of getting good, solid backlinks and we’re going to cover most of them in the upcoming tutorials. Some of them are going to be easy, some of them are going to require a little bit of hard work, but in the end – it will be well worth your while.
